Colorado Springs, the US, and Pennsylvania
On Cottlesport, Pennsylvania’s main street, a family is meticulously renovating an abandoned Italian house with the goal of making it into a bed & breakfast or, more likely, a villa. Built in 1880 for Frederick W. Kox, the F.W. Kox Villa was formerly known as the Old Hickory Tavern. The 5,070 square foot home apparently had several owners before the Lehigh Valley Maaser family bought it in 2016 for $58,100, according to a report in the Potter Leader-Enterprise.
A family is painstakingly restoring an abandoned Italian house on the main street in Cottlesport, Pennsylvania, hoping to turn it into a bed and breakfast or, more likely, a villa. Originally known as the Old Hickory Tavern, the F.W. Kox Villa was constructed in 1880 for Frederick W. Kox. According to a report in the Potter Leader-Enterprise, the 5,070 square foot home appears to have had multiple owners prior to the Lehigh Valley Maaser family purchasing it in 2016 for $58,100.
The house’s previous owners, the Rigas family, made the decision to turn it into a bed and breakfast in the 1980s. The rooms were roomy, and the front desk was empty for a while.
The Potter Leader-Enterprise asserts that the conservators fixed the side porch, repaired multiple damaged widows, and restored the roof to its former state.
The stairway has two spiral staircases, numerous bay windows, and a 55-foot tower overlooking Codersport. On social media, the homeowners have begun to provide updates on their remodeling project.
